Since we began planning alpha ventus, Germany’s first offshore wind farm, in 2006, we have been used to dealing with superlatives: never before had a wind farm been built so far from the mainland (64 kilometres). Never before had a wind farm been located in such deep water (32 metres).
And at five megawatts, there had never been a wind turbine with a higher net output before. With this flagship project, we have set milestones for an entire industry. During planning, construction and operation, new industry standards were defined that are still valid today.
Turning experience into competence
Looking back, we’re very proud of all that we have accomplished. But we are even more motivated by the fact that we are far from fed up and may now proceed according to a standardised approach. Instead, we see every new task as a challenge to be mastered with knowledge, a sense of proportion and passion. And we are always aware that we don’t lose our balance even when we don’t have solid ground under our feet. We look forward to the challenges of your project.
